Linda W. Beamon
GATESVILLE - Linda Warren Beamon, 58, a native of Hertford County, died Sept. 3, 2001 in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Beamon was the daughter of the late Avis Jack and Reba Woodcox Warren, she was a homemaker and had been employed with Stewart Saw Works in Gatesville.

A graveside service was conducted Sept. 5, 2001 in Gatesville Cemetery by the Rev. William Clements.

Survivors include her husband, Ray G. Beamon Sr; three daughters, Karen Beamon and Jennifer Beamon, both of Gatesville; and Sandra O'Del of Boise, Idaho; four sons, R. Gordon Beamon Jr, Joseph B. Beamon and Danny Beamon, all of Gatesville and John Beamon of Meridan, Idaho; two brothers, Kenny Warren of Engelhard and David Warren of Engelhard and David Warren of Ahoskie; and 10 grandchildren.

Doris I. Whitehurst
GATESVILLE - Doris Irvine Whitehurst, 73, a native of Charlotte, died Sept. 5, 2001 in Gaston Memorial Hospital.

Whitehurst formerly resided in Gates County and is the daughter of the late William and Rebecca Kelly Irvine. She was retired from Hampton Roads Transit and a member of Meyer's Memorial Methodist Church in Gastonia. She was a former member of Oak Grove Christian Church in Sunbury.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Summers of Gastonia; two sons, Ronald I Whitehurst of Raleigh and Richard D. Whitehurst of Virginia Beach; a sister; Rucy Radibush of Florida; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Lloyd E. Rogerson
ELIZABETH CITY - Lloyd Emerson Rogerson, 78, a native of Perquimans County, died Sept. 7, 2001, in the Albemarle Hospital.

Rogerson is the son of the late Waldo Emerson Rogerson and the late Edna Madre Rogerson. Rogerson was a retired commercial fisherman, a member of the VFW Post #6060 and a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy.

A graveside service was conducted Sept. 10, 2001 in the Memory Gardens Cemetery by the Rev. Tony Moore. Memorial donation gifts may be made to the Ramoth Gilead Baptist Church, c/o Carolyn Madre, 1278 Northside Road, Elizabeth City, NC 27909.

Survivors include his wife, Lucy Russell Rogerson; one sister, Sara Sexton of Elizabeth City; a brother, Ray Waldo Rogerson of Leesburg, FL.

Bessie W. White
BALTIMORE, MD - Bessie Marie Walker White, a native of Gates County, died Sept. 5, 2001 in Baltimore, MD.

A memorial service was held Sept. 8, 2001 at Queen Esther AME Church in Easton, MD.

White was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Sunbury and later moved to Newark, NJ were she was a member of True Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy A. White; two sister, Luevina Eason of Windsor and Seth Griffin of Elizabeth City; eight brothers, Robert, Lester and Henry Walker of Long Island, NY; Gordon Walker of Elizabeth City, Thomas Walker of Sunbury, William Walker of Gatesville, James Walker of Easton, MD; Abraham Walker of Sunbury; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Leroy Sears
GATES - Leroy Sears, 85, a native of Gates County, died Sept. 5, 2001 in his home.

He was a retired factory worker of National Screen Company and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

A funeral was held Sept. 10,2001 at New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. James Brown officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, James Sears of Gates and Albert Sears of Alamogordo, New Mexico; a daughter, Mable Sears of Raleigh, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
