Clinton E. Williams Sr.
EURE - Clinton Eure Williams Sr., 85, a native of Gates County, died Oct. 13, 2002 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

Williams was the son of the late Pleasant Z. and Ida Virginia Eure Williams. He had worked as an electrician with Allied Mills in Portsmouth and also had his own electrical business in Gates County and the surrounding area. He was a member of Eure Christian Church, Gatesville Masonic Lodge No. 126, the Hall Ruritan Club, Ray's Beach Fishing Club, the Gatlington Hunt Club and Woodmen of the World.

A funeral was held Oct. 16, 2002 in Eure Christian Church by the Rev. Wayne Gardner. Masonic rites were accorded in the church and the burial was in the church cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Eure Christian Church or to the American Heart Association.

Survivors include his wife, Celia Felton Williams; a daughter, Sandra W. Rountree of Eure, a son C.E. Williams Jr. of Gates; a sister, Lessie Ewell of Suffolk and two grandchildren

Roger E. Suter Sr.
CHESAPEAKE, Va. - Roger Eugene Suter Sr., 46, a native of Portsmouth, died Oct. 15, 2002.

Suter had been currently employed as a general supervisor for Public Utilities for the City of Chesapeake. Suter was a well known musician with local bands.

A funeral was held Oct. 25, 2002 in Faith Alive Ministries on Shell Road in Chesapeake by the Revs. Matt Matthews and Milton Lupton. Burial was in the Meadowbrooks Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth A. Suter; his parents, Paul Winfield Suter Jr. and Loretta Lupton Suter of Eure, a son, Roger E. Suter Jr. of Portsmouth; three daughters, Alica M. Bowes of Portsmouth, Heather A. McKeehan and Roxan E. McKeehan, both of Chesapeake; two brothers, Richard A. "Tony" Suter of Portsmouth and Steve W. Suter of Chesapeake; and one grandson.

Emily Sears
GATESVILLE - A funeral service for Emily Sears, of Harrell's Church Road, Gatesville, will be held at 1 p.m. Oct. 23, 2002.

John H. Hardy
NORFOLK, Va. - John Henry Hardy, 75, a native of Virginia, died Oct. 17, 2002 in Habour Pointe Medical Center, Norfolk.

Hardy was retired and a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Norfolk.

A funeral was held Oct. 21, 2002 in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, 929 Ingleside Road, Norfolk.

Survivors include his wife, Estelle Hardy; a daughter, Annette Green and stepdaughters, Dinah Williams of Petersburg, Va., Peggy Moore of Ges, Melody Stuckey of Virginia Beach: three stepsons, Natty Tafar of Bellingham, Wash., Irving Williams of Methuen, Mass., and Ronnie Williams of Boston, Mass.; two sisters, Jeanette Hawkins and Velma Hardy, both of Norfolk; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
