Okie H. Boone Jr.
GATES---Okie Homer Boone Jr. of Gates County died Dec. 9, 2002 in Waverly, Va.

A funeral was held a 1 p.m., Dec. 15, 2002 at the Native American Christian Church, Winton with the Rev. Charles R. Reid Jr. officiating.

Burial was in the Boone's Family Cemetery in Gates.

Clyde E. White Jr.
PORTSMOUTH, Va.---Clyde Emmett White Jr., 61, a native of Portsmouth, Va., died Dec. 11, 2002 in his residence.

White was a retired master plumber with over 40 years of service.

A funeral was held Dec. 16, 2002 in Snellings Funeral Home, Portsmouth Boulevard Chapel. A memorial graveside service was held Dec. 18, 2002 in Olive Branch Cemetery.

Survivors include by his aunt who raised him, Katherine "Kitty" Sears of Portsmouth' two daughters, Crystal Shawn White of Portsmouth and Tammy Shirer of North Carolina; three sons, Robert Ewell, Randy L. Wainwright and Ronnie Wainwright all of Portsmouth; one sister, Margie Ward of Sunbury; five grandchildren.

Carlton R. Casper
GATES--- Carlton Ray "Big Red" Casper, 53, native of Gates County, died Dec. 13, 2002 in Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

A funeral was held Dec. 16, 2002 in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, by the Rev. Billy Presley. Burial was held in the Casper Family Cemetery.

Survivors include his mother, Clarine Winslow Casper of Suffolk and Hilda Butler of Elizabethtown, NC; three brothers, Robert V. "Bobby" Casper Jr. of Glen Allen, Va., Lester Casper of Suffolk and Greg Casper of Gates.

Roy G. Tomlin Jr.
ZUNI, Va.---Roy G. Tomlin Jr., 57, a native of Southampton County, died Dec. 14, 2002 at his home.

Tomlin was the son of the late Roy G. Tomlin Sr. and Louise Bradshaw Tomlin. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of Hunterdale Baptist Church and an independent truck driver.

A funeral was held Dec. 17, 2002 in Hunterdale Baptist Church with the Rev. Howard L. Vinson Jr. officiating. Burial was in the Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife Glenda Barrett Tomlin; two sons, Roy Greg Tomlin of Charlottesville and Michael Haywod Tomlin of Zuni; a sister, Barbara T. Warren of Franklin and a granddaughter.

Mary Anne Montooth
EDENTON--- Mary Anne Nixon Mantooth, died December 14, 2002, in Portsmouth. She was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church and was retired from Maryview Medical center.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Mantooth; three children, son, Wayne of Burlington Calif., daughter, Michelle Kughn of Creedmore, and son Michael of Newport News, Va.; two grandsons; her mom, Frances Nixon of Edenton; nine brothers, John of Montana, George and Michael of Richmond, Eddie of Erwin, Tenn., Ernest of Jacksonville, Fla., Bill of Corapeake, Stanley of Hertford, David of Macon and Mark of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two sisters, Betty Jones of Nashville, and Linda Terry of Edenton.

A funeral was held Dec. 18, 2002 by Pastor Karen Van Stee. Burial was in Beaver Hill Cemetery in Edenton. Contributions may be made to St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 4811 High St., Portsmouth, VA 23703
