The family received friends at Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday and other times at the home. Memorial donations may be made to ``Operation In As Much,'' c/o First Baptist Church of Ahoskie, P.O. Box 649, Ahoskie, NC 27910. Mrs. Britton was born in Wilson County and was a member of First Baptist Church of Ahoskie where she served as Sunday school teacher. She was a member of Mom on Missions, The W.M.U. and former I.S. Director at Roanoke Chowan Hospital. Kim was a computer systems analyst of Nucor Steel. Survivors include her husband, Tim Britton of Ahoskie; two sons, Bryan Britton and Austin Britton of the home; her parents, Harold L. Sr. and Billie Frazier Holloman of Aulander; two sisters, Karen H. Early of Aulander and Allison H. Avery of Rocky Mount; and a brother, Hal Holloman of New Bern. Edward W. Jones A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie. Colonel L. Turner A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at J.W. Faison Memorial Chapel, Seaboard. Nellie R. Bess Mrs. Bess was a member of St. Thomas AME Zion Church, where she was a deaconess and served on the usher board. Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Allen R. Bess; a son, Clyde Boone of Norfolk; two stepsons, Allen Bess of North Carolina and Anthony Bess of Norfolk; two stepdaughters, Alvina Beverly of Norfolk and Alease Bess of North Carolina; two sisters, Mary E. Smith and Carrie Clement, both of Norfolk; eight grandchildren; and six stepgrandchildren. A funeral was conducted Monday at St. Thomas AME Zion Church. Interment was in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake, was in charge. Tina J. Riddick A funeral was conducted Saturday at Bagley's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Winfall. Stallings Funeral Home, Hertford, was in charge. Florence Winston A funeral was conducted Sunday at Oxley Hill Baptist Church. Gilliam Funeral Home was in charge. Hattie Hicks A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Twilight Baptist Church, Weldon, by the Rev. Danny Jones. Interment will be Twilight Baptist Church Cemetery. H.D. Pope Funeral Home is in charge. James E. Wilder Jr. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Houston. Wilder was an Army veteran of WWII, having served in France, Germany and England. While here, he was awarded the Purple Heart. Survivors include a daughter, Ruthie Potter of Houston; a son, Grey Wilder of Germany; sisters, Nancy Evans of Williamsburg, Va., and Marion Johnson of Harrellsville; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. |
