The R-C News-HeraldMay 6, 2003Lankford R. Eure RODUCO - Lankford Riddick Eure Sr., 90, a native of Gates County, died May 3, 2003 in Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie. He was the widower of Dixie Hofler Eure. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Eure Christian Church by the Rev. Wayne Gardner. Burial will be in Gatesville Cemetery. Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, is in charge. Memorial contributions may be made to Eure Christian Church, Eure, N.C. 27935. Eure was a retired farmer and he was a member of Eure Christian Church and Gatesville Ruritan Club. Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Eure Sosbee of Athens, Ga.; his son, Lankford R. ``Rick'' Eure Jr. of Roduco; a sister, Irene Daniels of Corapeake; and three grandchildren. Ronald G. Vangasbeck SUNBURY - Ronald Gershon Vangasbeck, 67, a native of Mill City, Pa., died May 1, 2003 in Albemarle Hospital, Elizabeth City. A funeral was conducted Sunday in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, by the Rev. William Clements. Burial will follow later in the week at the Fairview Cemetery in Lake Winola. The family asks that flowers be omitted and contributions be made to the Gates County Rescue Squad, Gatesville, NC 27938. Vangasbeck was a Vietnam veteran and had retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service with the rank of chief petty officer. He later retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 15 years of employment and was a member of VFW Post 6060 and the Fleet Reserve Association. Survivors include his mother, Doris Tripp Vangasbeck Stage of Lake Winola, Pa.; his wife, Betty Arnold Vangasbeck; two daughters, Peggy Leonhart of Lake Winola and Beth Burlew of Spencer, N.Y.; a son, Larry Vangasbeck of Lake Winola; and four grandchildren. Irving A. Coleman III SCOTLAND NECK - Irving Alexander Coleman III, died May 1, 2003. A graveside service was conducted Sunday at the Baptist Cemetery in Scotland Neck by the Rev. Dr. Jim Drake. Letchworth Funeral Home in Scotland Neck was in charge. Coleman worked for many years with his father as a logger for Coleman Logging Company. Survivors include his daughter, Rachael Coleman of Como; son, Justin Coleman of Scotland Neck; and sisters, Barbara C. Davis of Chester, VA, and Brenda Coleman of Scotland Neck. Rochelle Leary COLERAIN - Rochelle "Roach" Leary, died May 1, 2003, at his residence. A funeral was conducted Monday at Zion Hill Baptist Church, Colerain, by the Rev. Nathaniel Thompson. Burial was in the church cemetery. Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, was in charge. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Leary; two sons, Rochelle D. Gaskins of Colerain and Jerome Gaskins of Murfreesboro; three daughters, Cotyé, Charnella and Raquel Leary, all Colerain; five brothers, Greggory Morris Leary of Philadelphia, Pa., Willie Lee Leary Jr., Eric Leary and Jimmy Leary, all of Newport News, Va., Clifton Leary of Colerain; and five sisters, Marion Moore, Shirley Leary and Peggy Golden, all of New Jersey, N.J. and Ann and Jackie Leary, both of Colerain. Winborne R. McLaurin WINDSOR - Winborne Ray "Mac" McLaurin, 69, a native of Sampson County, died May 5, 2003, at the Brian Center. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Windsor Volunteer Fire Department or to the American Cancer Society. Walker Funeral Home, is in charge. McLaurin was a graduate of NC State and retired as a wood technician and researcher. He then ran a logging equipment and repair service and was associated with J.T. Hoggard Logging. He was also a member of Cashie Baptist Church and Pollocks Ferry Hunting Club. Survivors include his wife, Susan Gregory McLaurin; a daughter, Sherry McLaurin of Angier; a stepdaughter, Paige Parrish of Smithfield; two sisters, Loueen Daughtry of Goldsboro and Glennis Howell of Fayetteville; a brother, Hector Earl McLaurin; and five grandchildren. |
