Evelyn L. Bays
GATESVILLE -- Evelyn Lassiter Bays, 86, of Main Street, died Jan. 30, 2003 at her residence surrounded by her family. Mrs. Bays was born on Sept. 4, 1916 in Gates County. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Irene Lassiter and the widow of retired Army Master Sgt. Delbert H. Bays. Her only sister, Willie Marie Cummings preceded her in death.

She is survived by two daughters, Margaret Ann Tankovich and husband Jim of Herndon, Va. and Lillian Taylor and husband Richard of Suffolk; two granddaughters, Catherine and Elizabeth Tankovich; niece, Sharron Cummings Hill; and nephew, Harvey F. Cummings II.

Graveside services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Eure Christian Church Cemetery by the Rev. Wayne Gardner. Viewing will be in the Miller Funeral Home, Main Street, Gatesville today. The family will receive friends and relatives at her residence, 217 Main Street, Gatesville.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests anyone wishing may make a memorial gift in her memory may do so to either the Eure Christian Church, 875 NC 137, Eure, NC 27935, University Health Systems Hospice Care, 521 West Myers St., Ahoskie, NC 27910 or to the Gates County Rescue Squad, Gatesville, NC 27938. Daisy W. Eason
ELIZABETH CITY -- Daisy Marie White Eason, 61, of Crooked Run Road, died Jan. 27, 2003. A funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church. Stallings Funeral Home is in charge.

Christopher J. Harmon
JAMESVILLE -- Christopher Jerome Harmon, 20, of the 1300 block of Corinth Church Road, passed Jan. 26, 2003. A funeral will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Uniontown Church of Christ DOC, Jamesville. Puckett-Purkett Funeral Service Inc., Roper, is in charge.

Joyce M. Iannacone
SUNBURY -- Joyce Marie Iannacone, 55, of 108 NC 33 South, died in a house fire with her fiance James Herb Hodges Jan. 28, 2003.

Joyce was a native of Norwalk, Conn., and is survived by her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Frank H. Broadhurst of Virginia Beach; her sister, Lorraine F. Sayas and husband John; three brothers, Kenneth F. Broadhurst, J.W. Broadhurst and Frank S. Broadhurst and wife Michelle; her daughter, Melissa Iannacone; two sons, John Anzalone and Mario Anzalone; along with numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Sunday at noon in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel. The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John P. Sayas following the service. Memorial donations may be made to The Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters, www.chkd.org.

Roland Lee Perry
COLERAIN -- Roland Lee Perry, 67, of the 2400 block of Wakelon Road, died Jan. 30, 2003. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Hillcrest Cemetery, Colerain. Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, is in charge.

Lucille W. Talton
RALEIGH -- Lucille Mason Whitson Talton, 77, passed away Jan. 29, 2003 in Virginia Beach General Hospital after a sudden illness. She was born June 1, 1925 in Norfolk and was the wife of the late Stephen James Talton, a former chief for the Raleigh firefighters.

Lucille attended Hugh Morrison High School in Raleigh, but as a senior, transferred to Roanoke Rapids High School where she graduated in 1942. She was a civil service employee of the U.S. Air Force until retirement in 1972, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, United Daughters of the Confederacy and Christian Women's Club.

Lucille is survived by her youngest son, Richard Shore Talton and wife Janet of Virginia Beach; two grandsons, Stephen Mason Talton of Apex, N.C. and Jeremy Marks Talton of Virginia Beach; and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, David M. Whitson and Catheline B. Wynne; stepfather, Henry E. Wynne; and two sons, Stephen J. Talton Jr. and Edward L. Talton. She was a ``sweet mama'' to her boys, and a wonderful friend.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home, 600 St. Mary's St., Raleigh. A funeral will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Norfolk, 404 Colley Ave., Norfolk, VA 23507.

Allie White
BELVIDERE -- Allie ``Tinks'' White, 77, died Jan. 23, 2003. A funeral will be at 2 p.m Saturday at Riddick Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Stallings Memorial Chapel, Hertford, is in charge.
