Howard L. Cromwell Sr.

KILL DEVIL HILLS -- Howard Lambert Cromwell Sr., 87, of the 800 block of Cardinal St., died May 22, 2003. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2003 at Twiford Colony Chapel, Manteo.


Virginia B. Davis

ELIZABETH CITY -- Virginia B. Davis, 82, of Warden Street, died May 22, 2003. A funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at First Christian Church. Twiford's Memorial Chapel is in charge.


Berenice D. Dodge

ELIZABETH CITY -- Berenice Dozier Dodge, 99, of the 1600 block of Parkview Drive, died May 21, 2003. A memorial will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in Twiford's Memorial Chapel.


Thomas E. Edmonds

ROXOBEL -- Thomas E. Edmonds of Tyler School Road died May 21, 2003. A funeral will be Sunday at 1 p.m. in Sandy Branch Baptist Church. Wilder's Funeral Home, Aulander, is in charge.


Mildred B. Horton

EURE -- Mildred Bass Gallup Horton, 85, of Britthaven of Nags Head, and formerly of Barfield Road, died May 22, 2003.

Mrs. Horton was born in Chowan County. She had retired as the supervisor of Bank of America's electronic banking system in Norfolk and was a member of Cool Spring Baptist Church.

Predeceased by her husbands, Sidney Ellis Gallup and Paul Forrest Horton, she is survived by two sons, Elias Gallup of Duck, N.C. and Billy L. Gallup of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a sister, Ruthann Adkins of Newport News; and a granddaughter, Wendy Lindquist.

A funeral will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Cool Spring Baptist Church by the Rev. Roger Kiker. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family Saturday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville.


George M. Jordan

TYNER -- George Marnace Jordan, 66, of the 4000 block of Virginia Road, died May 21, 2003 in his home.

Mr. Jordan was born in Chowan County and was the son of the late George Thomas and Vanola Mobbs Jordan. A retired farmer, he was a member and deacon of Faith Fellowship Baptist Church and had formerly served as a director of the Chowan County Farm Bureau and as secretary/treasurer of the Albemarle Cotton Growers Association.

Surviving are his wife of nearly 48 years, Betty Piland Jordan; a daughter, Denise J. Rorrer of Toledo, Ohio; a son, the Rev. Michael Jordan and wife Dianne of Richmond, Va.; a sister, Barbara J. Hall of Greenville; two brothers, Herbert Ray Jordan of Elizabeth City and Gary Jordan of Edenton; four grandchildren, Michael Paul Jordan and wife Christy, Rikki Lassiter and husband Wayne, Heather Reichley and husband Jenson and Kimberly Jordan; and six great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Faith Fellowship Baptist Church by the Rev. Michael Jordan and the Rev. Randy Green. Burial will follow in Ballard's Bridge Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may join the family today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, Edenton, and other times at the residence. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Fellowship Baptist Church, 3500 Virginia Road, Tyner, NC 27980.


Donnie B. Privott

COFIELD -- Donnie Bell Privott, 93, of the 800 block of NC 45 South, died May 20, 2003. A funeral will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. Hertford County Undertakers is in charge.
