Fred W. Britton Sr.

EDENTON -- Fred William Britton Sr., 81, died May 25, 2003. A funeral will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Macedonia Baptist Church with burial in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home, Edenton.

Charles A. Phillips Sr.

MOYOCK -- Charles Anthony ``Chuck'' Phillips Sr., 66, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2003, at his home, to be with his son, Joseph Harley Phillips and to prepare for his surviving family.

Chuck was born in Wabash, Ind. He was retired from the U.S. Army and from the U.S. Postal Service.

His surviving family includes his wife, Joann; three sons, Charles Jr. and his wife Beth, Lawrence and his wife Cheryl and Glen; a daughter, Michelle and her husband James; two granddaughters, Laurie and Charlotte; a grandson, Joe; four stepgranddaughters, Stephanie, Kristin, Ashley and Gloria; four stepgreat-grandchildren, Adam, Nathan, Jackson and Madison; two sisters, Mary Ann and Ruth Ann of Indiana; a brother, Lawrence of Indiana; and a close family friend, William Deal Jr.

A funeral will be conducted at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel, by the Rev. James E. Gordon. Burial will be in Baltimore National Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia Society of America. ELIZABETH CITY -- Joe Harry Sanders Sr., 79, of the 1600 block of Darian Drive, died May 24, 2003. A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Swallow Savanah Cemetery, Allendale, S.C. Twiford Funeral Home is in charge.

PLYMOUTH -- Peggy Vester Thompson, 67, of White Oak Road, died May 26, 2003. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Horner-Walker Funeral Home.
