Virginian-PilotMay 29, 2003Hunter T. Bosso WILLIAMSTON -- Master Hunter Christian Tre Bosso, infant, of the 300 block of N. Haughton St., died unexpectedly May 27, 2003 at his home. Hunter was born March 27, 2003 to Kevin Christopher Bosso and Angie Peaks Bosso. ``Life is to see, to touch, to know a hint of darkness, a hint of light, before it's time to go'' -- Gloria Foster. ``God bless angel Hunter.'' Survivors include brothers, Kevin Christopher Bosso III and Adison Christian Bosso both of Williamston; paternal grandparents, Kevin Christopher Bosso Sr. and Cathleen Thompson Bosso of Pensacola, Fla.; maternal grandparents, Joseph L. Peaks Jr. and Marie Peaks of Williamston and Jimmy Manning and Nancy Fitzgerald Manning of Bear Grass, N.C.; paternal great-grandparents, Thomas M. Thompson II of Bessemer, Ala., Asa and Margaret Bailey of Bear Grass, Nita Fitzgerald of Williamston and J.L. and Nan Peaks of Bear Grass; great-great-grandparents, Josephine Fitzgerald of Alabama and Ruth Peaks of Williamston; uncles, Brad Peaks of Bear Grass, Michael Peaks of Williamston and Jeremy M.S. Bosso of Pensacola; and aunts, Jeniffer D. Bosso of Pensacola, Tracy Mobley of Nashville, Tenn. and Amanda Hester of Williamston. A funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Advent by the Rev. Jim Horton and Monsignor Stephen C. Bosso. Interment will be in Martin Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Williamston Fire and Rescue, 901 Washington St., Williamston, the Church of the Advent, Williamston or to a charity of one's choice. HENDERSON -- Mary Elliott Brinn, 67, a former resident of Hertford, died May 27, 2003. A graveside service will be held today at 11 a.m. in Cedar Wood Cemetery with Swindell Funeral Home, Hertford, is in charge.
MANNS HARBOR -- Rosa Lee Bratten Hand, 77, died May 27, 2003. A funeral will be held at Manteo Assembly of God on Friday at 2 p.m. Twiford Colony Chapel, Manteo, is in charge.
EDENTON -- Allen Boyd ``A.B.'' Harless Jr., 68, of Old Fish Hatchery Road, died May 27, 2003 at Chowan Hospital. Mr. Harless was born in Edenton on March 7, 1935 and was the son of the late Allen Boyd Harless Sr. and Agnes White Harless. He was a lifelong resident of Edenton except for the three years he resided at the Outer Banks. A graduate of Edenton High School, Mr. Harless attended Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Va. and later served his country in a U.S. Army artillery division in Germany. A partner in the Vogedes-Harless Insurance Agency, he retired in 1997. Active in community affairs, he served as Edenton Town Treasurer for three terms and on the Edenton Town Council for six years. A commissioner on the NC Eastern Municipal Power Agency, he was a member of the Board of Trustees of the NC League of Municipalities Risk Management Services. A member of the Historic District Commission, he had been a member of the Edenton Jaycees, the Aces Booster Club, president of the Chowan Arts Council, chairman of the Chowan County Heart Association and the Mended Heart Association. Mr. Harless had chaired the Edenton Peanut Festival and the John A. Holmes Community Scholarship Committee. A member and past president of the Edenton Rotary Club, he had been named a Paul Harris Fellow, served on the Northeastern Regional Airport Commission and received the Governor's Award for Distinguished Service from Governor Jim Martin. At the time of his death, Mr. Harless was serving as secretary of the Chowan County ABC Board, a position he held for 30 years. After his retirement, he became director of the Edenton-Chowan Food Pantry and felt this an especially meaningful area of service. An active member of Edenton United Methodist Church, he had served as church treasurer, choir member, Sunday School superintendent, president of the Methodist Men, chairman of the Administrative Board, member of the Men's Bible Sunday School class and chairman of the Finance Committee. He was an avid sports fan and was especially fond of ACC basketball. He had played football and basketball in high school and later enjoyed playing golf and tennis. He also taught Pinochle at the Baum Center in Kill Devil Hills. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Lucy Meade Atkinson Harless; two daughters, Katherine Harless McMullan, her husband Henry and their children, Matt and Mary Meade McMullan of High Point and Martha Scott Harless High, her husband W. Hackney Jr. and their children, Molly and William High of Edenton; and his sister, Anne Harless Jones and husband Richard of Arlington, Va. A.B.'s philosophy on life was to live each day to the fullest as you never know what tomorrow brings. A memorial service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Edenton United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jim Huskins, the Rev. Ralph Epps and Dr. Kenneth Word. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, Edenton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Edenton United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 37, Edenton, NC 27932 or to one's favorite charity.
FAYETTEVILLE -- Daniel John Jones, 52, of the 5200 block of Jason Keith Court, died May 25, 2003, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Mr. Jones was an editor for The Virginian-Pilot/Ledger Star for 15 years, a captain in the Air Force for four years and was involved with the Air Force Reserves. He was an English professor at Fayetteville State University and was an avid outdoorsman. He is survived by a daughter, Stephanie Stebbins of Newport News; a son, Zachary D. Jones of Wilmington, N.C.; his mother, M. Jeanine Jones of Fayetteville; two grandchildren; a brother, Michael R. Jones and a sister, Patricia J. Jones, both of Fayetteville. A funeral will be held today at 11 a.m. at Jernigan-Warren Chapel, Fayetteville, by Father Kita. Memorials may be made to Fayetteville State University or to UNC-Chapel Hill.
EDENTON -- Isiah White, 66, of the 100 block of Don Juan Road, died May 23, 2003. A funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Union Grove AME Zion Church. Rowsom Funeral Home in charge.
