Mary B. Kight

CHESAPEAKE -- Mary Barkley Burgess Kight, 76, died May 28, 2003 at her residence. Mrs. Kight was born in Portsmouth to the late Burl and Lovenia Cartwright Barkley. She was a homemaker and a member of Brandon Chapel, Arrowhead Beach, N.C. Mrs. Kight was predeceased by one husband, Dennis Wright Burgess; two sons, David and Wilse Burgess; and one stepson, Marshall Kight.

Survivors include her husband of 21 years, Carlton Kight; one daughter, Margaret ``Peggy'' Beeton of Woodstock, Va.; two sons, Lawrence Proctor of Phoenix, Ariz. and Dennis Mitchell Burgess of Virginia Beach; one stepdaughter, Kathy Lillard of Charlotte, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A funeral will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Twiford's Colonial Chapel, Chesapeake with Pastor Danny J. Kesner officiating. Committal services will follow at Wesley United Methodist Church Cemetery, Old Trap, N.C. with Pastor David Moehring officiating. The family will receive friends at Twiford's Colonial Chapel, Chesapeake, today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Heart Association, Memorial and Tributes Processing Center, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216.

ELIZABETH CITY -- Matthew Burton Dozier, 45, of the 500 block of Pearl St., died May 28, 2003. A memorial service will be held today at 1 p.m. at Holy Trinity Community Church. Twiford Funeral Home is in charge.

FAYETTEVILLE -- Baby Girl Sierra Angel Evans of the 900 block of Tamarack Drive died May 25, 2003. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth, is in charge.
