Rose Marie Gilbert

WINSTON-SALEM -- Rose Marie Gilbert, 68, a native of San Pedro, Calif., went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 28, 2003 at Forsyth Memorial Hospital.

She retired from the Newport News Employees Credit Union as a loan officer. Her life began Sept. 13, 1934, the daughter of Lucille and William Peiffer. She was preceded in death by her son, Wayne Gilbert. She leaves to mourn her passing sons, Rodney and David Gilbert; daughter, Virginia Jurney; sister, Nancy Galow; brother, William Peiffer; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

A private memorial service will be held. Donations may be made to your favorite charity.


Margaret M. Goodwin

SWANSBORO -- Margaret Morton Goodwin, 79, died May 3, 2003. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Peletier First Missionary Baptist Church. Sayland Funeral Home, Maysville, is in charge.


Jasper W. Hassell

EDENTON -- Jasper Wiggins Hassell, 78, of the 100 block of Bowden Lane, died May 4, 2003. A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Miller Funeral Home is in charge.


Donnie L. Matthews

OAK CITY -- Donnie Lee Matthews, 57, of the 4100 block of Fort Branch Road, died May 4, 2003. A funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Biggs Funeral Home Chapel.


Winborne R. McLaurin

WINDSOR -- Winborne Ray McLaurin, 69, died May 5, 2003. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Walker Funeral Home is in charge.


Frank B. Miller

EDENTON -- Frank Benjamin Miller Sr., 90, of the 100 block of Shannonhouse Road, died May 4, 2003. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home.
