Born in Gates County, N.C., Mrs. Roberts was the daughter of the late Arentha B. and Maude Jones Powell and the widow of Alexander (Bob) Roberts Jr. She was a graduate of the St. Vincent DePaul Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Roberts retired after 20 years of service as a registered nurse from Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. She was a member of South Norfolk Christian Church where she was a member and past president of the Dorcas Class. Mrs. Roberts is survived by a son, Michael Powell Roberts and wife Denise; a daughter, Andrea Roberts Conway; a sister, Lucile Harrell; two grandchildren, Kristin Leigh Roberts, a senior airman in the U.S. Air Force and Jason Lee Roberts and wife Monica; and two great-grandchildren, Tray Roberts and Vann Roberts, all of Chesapeake. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Francis A. Gay Funeral Home, Chesapeake, by the Rev. Amos Eby. Interment will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. Born in Backwoods, N.C., she was a homemaker and a member of New Calvary Baptist Church. She is survived by a great-niece, Cozia Sutton; a niece, Virginia Kearson, both of Chesapeake; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Carlos A. Suraci NORFOLK -- Patricia ``Pat'' Ann Fenlon Suraci, 70, born in New York City, passed away in Bon Secours-DePaul Hospital on May 30, 2003. Pat was a long-standing member of Christ The King Catholic Church of Norfolk. After retirement and moving to Edenton, N.C., Pat and husband Joe, became members of St. Anne's Catholic Church. Pat is survived by her loving husband, Joseph Suraci; daughters, Kathleen Gurecki and husband Don of Norfolk, JoAnn Brooks and husband Warren of Suffolk, Mary Cormier and husband Al and Susun Laswick and husband Paul all of Richmond; and beloved grandchildren, Kevin Gurecki, Christopher and Sarah Brooks and Selina and Ryan Cormier. She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Clarice Fenlon. Pat was a former member of the Franciscan Sisters of Baltimore, where she was known as Sister Mary Christina for over 20 years. She was principal of Christ The King Catholic School from 1963 to 1973. In 1990, Pat returned as principal, and served until her retirement in June 2000. An outstanding Catholic leader, Pat served as Regent of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas-- Local Regent Court 1212, from 1981 to 1987, followed by other offices held on the state level. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Tuesday at 7 p.m. by the Rev. Brian Rafferty at Christ The King Catholic Church, 1803 Columbia Ave., Norfolk. Mrs. Wills was born in Memphis, Tenn., and was the daughter of the late Frank Thrall Tobey Sr., a former mayor of Memphis and Lucille Adams Tobey. She had taught at Bancroft School and Friends School, both in Haddonfield, N.J., and was a member of Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, Pa. Preceded in death by her husband, Robert Parnell Wills, she is survived by two daughters, Mary Wills Parker of Suffolk and Lucille Johnson of Charlestown, N.H.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Hurdle HOBBSVILLE -- Richard Ephriam ``Dick'' Hurdle, 85, of the 1200 block of Acorn Hill Road, died May 31, 2003 in Albemarle Hospital, Elizabeth City. Mr. Hurdle was born in Perquimans County and was the son of the late Alonza and Frances Bunch Hurdle. He had retired as the mill foreman of Younce and Ralph Lumber Co. in Belhaven, N.C., and was a member of Sandy Cross Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Hollowell Hurdle, he is survived by two daughters, DiAnne H. Bryant and husband, Rosser of Franklin, Va., and Kathy Hurdle of Hobbsville; a son, Billy R.
