In the name of God amen,I Samuel Harrell of the County of Gates and
State of North Carolina being week body but of sound and disposing mind
and memory, and knoing that it is appointed for all men once to die, and
the time it may happen uncertian do make and ordain this instrument of
writing to be and contain my last will and testement in manner and form
following,
Impremint,I recomend my sole unto the hands of Almighty God who gave it,
hoping that he will recieve the same, and my body to the earth to be
buryed in a decent and christian manner by my executors hereafter
mentioned.
Item, I lend to my loving wife Sally Harrell the use of my land and
plantation whereon I now live during her natural life also the use of
ten negros namely Ceasor, George, Lydia, Rose and her youngest child
Harriett, Liller, Aggy, Peter, Dave and Pomp and all my stock and
furniture not given away after my just debts are paid to her during her
natural life and after her death, I give the land to my three youngest
sons namely Willis Harrell, Andrew Harrell and Isaac Harrell to them and
their heirs and assign forever but in case that either of my said sons
should die without issue, then the land to be divided between the
surviver or survivers of them their heirs or assigns forever. It is
allso my my will and desire that all of the negros stock and furniture
above mentioned be divided between my five youngest children after the
death of my loving wife Sally Harrell namely Henry Harrell, Willis
Harrell, Andrew Harrell, Elizabeth Harrell and Isaac Harrell to them and
their heirs and assigns forever.
Item, I give and bequeath to my son William Harrell, the land that he
now lives on beginning in the Horse Pool Swamp, then running up the
swamp to Moses Briggs' line into the Desert to the back line of Joseph
Gorodon's line, then along the said Gordon's line to the first station
containing three hundred and eighty acres more or less, also one negro
woman named Lace and her five children namly Beck, Judy, Gilbert, Lydia
and Pomp and all the stock and furniture that he has already in his
possession to him and his heirs and assigns for ever.
Item, I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Harrell one negro woman
named Peggy and her child Milley, one bed & furniture one table and one
trunk, that s now called hers, to her and her heirs for ever.
Item I give and bequeath to my son Noah Harrell, one negro boy named
Mingo, one negro girl named Pinder and all the stock and furniture that
h now has in his possession, also two hundred and fifty dollars in bonds
and notes arrising out of the sale of my personal esate to him and his
heirs and assigns for ever.
Item, I give and bequeath to my loving son Abner Harrell two negros
namely Dinah and her child Harry and all the property that I already put
in his possession to him and his heirs and assigns for ever.
Item, I give and bequeath to my son James Harrell the lands that I
purchased of James Creesy formerly belonging to David Rice dec'd. also
two negros named Jenny and Tom to him and his heirs and assigns for
ever.
Item, I give and bequeath unto my son Joseph Harrell the lands that I
purchased of Josiah Lassiter and Nathaniel Riddick cotaining one hundred
acres, more or less, also one hundred acres of land Laying on the west
side of the deep branch bounded by the lands of William Harrell and
Moses Briggs line near Willis old feilds, from there to the Horse Pool
Swamp to he first station, containing one hundred acres more or less,
also the following negros Emanuel, Ben, Amy and Solomon, also one three
year old colt to him and his heirs and assigns for ever.
Item, I give and bequeath to my daughter Nancy Harrell, two negros
namely July and Lucy to her and her heirs and assigns for ever.
Item, I give and bequeath to my son Henry Harrell, the ballance of the
land I purchased of David Riddick adjoining the lands of his brother
Joseph Harrell also one piece of land that I purchased of Joseph Gordon
Esq. containing one hundred acres be the same more or less,
Item, It is my last will and desire that my Executors here after named
sell my creek land containing one hundred acres lying on the north side
of Bennett's creek adjoining the lands of James B. Sumner and others,
also my three negros namely Penny and her two youngest children named
Pine and Abraham and as much of my personal estate as will be sufficient
to satisfy all my just debts.
Lastly I nominate constitute and appoint my two sons William Harrell
and Noah Harrell my executors to this my last Will and testament,
ratifying this and no other to be my last will and testament, In witness
whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 13 day of Feby 1811, -

Gates County May County Court of Pleas ? 1811

The within well was ezhibited into Court by William Harrell and Noah
Harrell the executors therein appointed, and was proved by the oath of
John Gordon and Charles W. Harvey the subscribing witnesses thereto, and
on motion was ordered to be recorded. At the same time the said
Executors were duly qualified for that office & prayed an order for
letters testamentary thereon, which was accordingly granted.
