1. Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how Meridian Networks LLC (operating the Throughwire service) uses cookies and similar technologies on its websites and account portals. It supplements our Privacy Policy and should be read together with it.

This Cookie Policy applies to:

  • the public Throughwire marketing website;
  • the account dashboard and order checkout pages; and
  • any other web property we operate that links to this Cookie Policy.

The Throughwire desktop and mobile client applications do not rely on web cookies for their core functionality. Where any client application uses local storage or similar mechanisms for purely operational purposes (for example, to remember a session between launches), this is described in the application's documentation.

2. What Cookies Are

A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device when you visit. Cookies are widely used to make websites work, to make them work more efficiently, and to provide information to the site operator.

This Cookie Policy also covers similar technologies that achieve comparable functions, including:

  • Local storage and session storage: small data stores in your browser that hold information across or within sessions;
  • Pixels and beacons: tiny image files used to record events such as page loads;
  • Software development kit (SDK) identifiers: identifiers used by mobile or desktop SDKs to maintain state.

For brevity, we refer to all of these as "cookies" in this Policy unless we need to distinguish.

Cookies can be:

  • First-party, set by the website you are visiting;
  • Third-party, set by a domain other than the one you are visiting;
  • Session, deleted when you close your browser; or
  • Persistent, remaining on your device for a specified period or until manually deleted.

3. How We Use Cookies

We use cookies sparingly. Our overall approach reflects the data minimization principle described in our Privacy Policy: we deploy only the cookies we need to operate the Service, secure the account experience, and (where applicable and with your consent) understand aggregate usage patterns to improve our website.

We do not use cookies for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell your personal data through cookies or by any other means.

4. Categories of Cookies and Similar Technologies

We classify cookies by function:

4.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for our website and account portal to function. They enable core functionality such as authentication, session management, security, load balancing, and form submission. You cannot opt out of strictly necessary cookies because the relevant pages cannot function correctly without them.

4.2 Functional Cookies

These cookies remember choices you make on the website (for example, language preference, region, or theme) so that we do not have to ask you again. We aim to keep functional cookies to a minimum.

4.3 Analytics Cookies

Where we use analytics, these cookies help us understand how visitors interact with our website in aggregate, which informs improvements to design, content, and performance. Analytics cookies are deployed only with your consent where consent is required by Applicable Law.

4.4 Marketing Cookies

We do not currently deploy marketing cookies. If we begin to do so in the future, we will update this Policy and seek your consent where required by Applicable Law before such cookies are set.

5. Cookie Inventory

The following table lists the cookies we currently use. The list reflects our practices as of the Last Updated date and may change as our website evolves.

If we add or remove cookies, we will update this inventory and the Last Updated date at the top of this Policy.

6. Managing Your Preferences

6.1 Consent Banner

Where Applicable Law requires consent for the use of cookies (for example, in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland), you will see a consent banner the first time you visit the website. The banner allows you to:

(a) accept all categories of cookies;

(b) reject all non-essential cookies; or

(c) configure your preferences by category.

You can change your preferences at any time by clicking the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer of our website.

6.2 Withdrawal of Consent

You may withdraw your consent to non-essential cookies at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before withdrawal. Once you withdraw consent, we will cease to set the affected cookies on subsequent page loads. Cookies that were already set before withdrawal will be cleared when they reach their natural expiration, or you may delete them manually using your browser controls.

7. Browser-Level Controls

Most browsers allow you to view, delete, and block cookies through browser settings. The procedure varies by browser; the developer of your browser publishes documentation explaining how to do this. The following links are provided for your convenience and are accurate as of the Last Updated date:

  • Apple Safari: https://support.apple.com/guide/safari/manage-cookies-sfri11471/mac
  • Google Chrome: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95647
  • Microsoft Edge: https://support.microsoft.com/microsoft-edge
  • Mozilla Firefox: https://support.mozilla.org/kb/cookies-information-websites-store-on-your-computer

If you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of the website (in particular the account portal) will not function correctly.

8. Do Not Track

Some browsers transmit "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signals. Where Applicable Law requires us to recognize these signals (for example, the California Privacy Rights Act treatment of opt-out preference signals), we honor them as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. Because we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, the practical effect of this signal on our website is limited to the suppression of any optional analytics cookies covered by an opt-out where applicable.

9. Cookies and Personal Data

Some cookies, in combination with other information, may constitute personal data under Applicable Data Protection Law. Where this is the case, our processing is governed by the Privacy Policy. Sections of the Privacy Policy that are particularly relevant to cookies include:

  • Section 8 (Who We Share Data With), relevant to third-party cookies;
  • Section 10 (Data Retention), supplemented by the cookie durations in Section 5 of this Policy; and
  • Sections 12, 13, and 14 (Your Rights), applicable to personal data collected via cookies.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the cookies we use, changes in the law, or changes in our practices. The Last Updated date at the top of this Policy indicates when it was last revised. Where changes are material, we will provide notice by a prominent banner on the website or by other reasonable means.
