An observed peak demonstrates achieved network capacity. Achievable speed depends on your broadband plan, device and route.
How Throughwire connects ChinaHow this figure is measured
The highest short-interval throughput recorded during a real customer transfer in the reporting period, cross-checked against server network traffic. Throughput combines upload and download.
- Calculation
- Upload plus download bytes, multiplied by 8 and divided by the recorded interval in seconds and 1,000,000, gives Mbps. The collection cadence targets 5 seconds; the actual recorded interval can be longer.
- Validation
- A neighboring reading must reach at least half the peak rate. Server network traffic must also account for at least the transfer's bytes over the surrounding observation window.
- Display precision
- Nearest 5 Mbps at 10 Mbps and above; nearest 1 Mbps below 10; nearest 0.1 Mbps below 1.
