Connected home workspace using one shared router

Throughwire for home

One router for everything at home.

Connect Throughwire once and your Apple TV, game consoles, smart TV, phones, tablets and laptops all use it automatically. Chinese services stay on your local connection, while international services use Throughwire.

Included with every paid plan, from 100 GBNo app or login on each device.

Automatic split routing

The router chooses the right route.

Every device on your home network follows the same simple rule. Chinese services stay on your local internet connection; international services use Throughwire. You do not need to switch anything on and off.

Stays local in China

Fast local access. This traffic does not use your Throughwire data.

The devices an app misses

Your whole home joins one simple network.

A router is most useful for screens, consoles and shared devices that cannot install a normal VPN app. Phones and computers can use it too, with nothing extra to manage.

Apple TV and streaming boxes

Watch international services without installing a separate VPN on the television.

Smart TVs and projectors

Give living-room screens the same automatic routing as every other device.

PlayStation and Xbox

Reach international stores and online services through the router connection.

Nintendo Switch

Connect a console that cannot run Hiddify or another desktop VPN app.

Phones and tablets

Join the home WiFi and use the right route without opening an app each time.

Laptops and home offices

Keep local Chinese tools fast while international work services stay reachable.

Home setup

Keep your current internet. Add one router.

Your internet provider keeps working exactly as before. The Throughwire router creates a second WiFi network for the devices that need automatic local and international routing.

  1. Step 1

    Get a supported router

We recommend the GL.iNet Flint 2. It is fast, well supported and does not need reflashing.

  2. Step 2

    Connect one cable

Connect a LAN port on your existing internet router to the WAN port on the Throughwire router, then turn it on.

  3. Step 3

    Run one command

Open your Throughwire account on a laptop, paste the setup command and follow the prompts. Then join the new WiFi.

Included on every plan

Start with Personal 100 GB.

Router access is not limited to business plans. Every active paid plan can connect a home router. China-direct traffic does not use your Throughwire allowance, so your data is reserved for international services.

Home router questions.

Do I need to switch Throughwire on and off?

No. Leave the router connected. It sends Chinese services through your normal local internet and international services through Throughwire automatically.

Does local Chinese traffic use my monthly data?

No. Traffic that stays on the China-direct route never reaches Throughwire and does not count toward your plan. Only traffic carried through Throughwire is measured.

Which plans include router access?

Every active paid plan includes home router access, starting with the Personal 100 GB plan. Choose the monthly data amount that fits your household.

Do I need to replace my existing internet router?

Usually not. Keep the router supplied by your internet provider and connect one of its LAN ports to the WAN port of the Throughwire router. Devices then join the Throughwire WiFi.

Will it improve online gaming latency?

It can make international game services reachable, but it is not a dedicated game accelerator. Competitive games may still benefit from a specialized accelerator selected for that game and region.

One setup for the screens, consoles, phones and computers your household already uses.
